According to the World Health Organisation, one in four people are impacted by mental health conditions.
These conditions can come in the form of anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and more. Currently, approximately 450 million people are going through mental illness globally which places mental disorders among the leading causes of ill-health and disability.
Mental health disorders are complex and can take many forms and it is imperative to talk about the subject in length.
Keeping the sensitivity and importance in mind, a recent episode of the Podcast It’s Kritikal! hosted Psychotherapist Farhat Gupta to talk about topics of concerns around mental health.
Farhat spoke about the following:
– The Importance of Support System
– The Difference Between Anxiety and Depression
– Normalizing The Conversation Around Mental Health
– Psychotherapy and Its Significance
– Making Mental Health Part of Our Education Curriculum
Farhat argues that the biggest change in mindset or the society regarding mental health will come when the subject is made a crucial part of our curriculum. We often read about physical health in school but it is time that the focus is given on the entirety of a human’s life, of which mental health is a ‘kritikal’ element.
For anyone who wants to explore the topic in detail, listening to the podcast will prove helpful.
